I Heart You
Last-minute Christmas shopping at The Dollar Tree + impromptu photo shoot = Me looking amazing in a red and gold hat. P.I.M.P.
Aaand this day I actually went to get a tattoo from my friend Micky. It was seriously one of the best tattooing experiences I’ve had and painless compared to my others. I know it’s a cheesy tattoo but it’s very me and I heart it so much. Ha. Soon enough my whole body will be covered in hearts. The big reveal is after the jump.
Outfit:
- Black military-style coat/blazer - thrifted
- Black boots - thrifted
- Black sheer blouse - thrifted
- Black/silver thread scarf - H&M
- Red tights - Primark
- Grey fingerless gloves - gifted (from Forever 21)
- Black bike shorts - Swap Meet
- Black canvas bag - Gap
Why do people stare at me when I wear these tights? I don’t think they’re that crazy.

As much as I tried to take more outfit photos, it didn’t work out because I always forget I have my camera in my bag. Plus, the usual shenanigans get in the way. Friday I wore an amazing all-black outfit and on Sunday I wore my new favorite hooded nylon jacket originally from INC but it only cost me $2 at the Value Center. Goddamit, no fucking photos! But I digress. This outfit is from Saturday night when we went to Brass Monkeys (sidenote: don’t go there. It sucks!). All was made right with a night of dancing at the Akbar and a game of Truth or Darren (don’t ask).
OK, so the outfit:
- velour coat of amazingness that I like to wear like a cape, thrifted
- teal dress with secretary tie (originally longer, but I made super-duper-DUPER short because when it’s winter, I love to wear short dresses and colorful tights!), thrifted (duh)
- plum-colored tights: Hue
- Deena & Ozzy Suede Kitten booties: UO
- black canvas bag: Gap
And there’s a story behind the shoes I’m wearing. I had been wanting them since this past summer. Yeah, I know what you’re thinking: shit bitch, why the fuck would you lust over them for so goddamn long?! Well I seriously didn’t have any extra money to spend and finally, my friend Darren gave me a gift card to Urban Outfitters for my birthday and so I only paid half the price. Still not a lot of money, but a lot considering I’m a poor-ass Mexican. Anyhow, I love them and they love me and fit perfectly. I would have worn them all weekend, but I don’t wear any shoes two days in a row. Oh great, my craziness has been made public: I have weird rules about clothes. A full disclosure post will be written in order to explain my little eccentricities. Stay tuned.
Recently, all I care about wearing are the following items:
- floral dresses
- big coats
- knee-highs over my tights
- boots
This chilly weather just makes me so happy!
- Huge velour jacket/coat that looks like a cape - thrifted
- B/W floral dress - thrifted
- Black boots - gift from Mamushka Marie
- Tights/knee-highs - Hue
When You're Gone
December 4th, 2009 - Night #1 of my birthday weekend.
My best friend of 15+ years took me to the Cranberries reunion show at Club Nokia. We headed down to LA Live and I have to say, the show brought me back to 1995. I remember being 13 years old and hanging out in said best friend’s room and listening to The Cranberries, Marilyn Manson, and the Spawn soundtrack. Haha. Dolores is still cute and I just want to put her in my pocket! She has that little pixie haircut and I’d like to bottle up her voice and carry it around. They played all their good stuff. Animal Instinct? Yup. How? Uh-huh. When You’re Gone? Duh. Salvation? You bet your ass they did. All in all, it was such an amazing show. Dolores was/is my hero!
And after the show, DJ Panda Bear and I took photos in front of the ice skating rink outside the Staples Center. The twinkling Christmas lights made for really good lighting. This night it was slightly cold, but I opted to keep the jacket off because I’m so in love with this dress. It’s thrifted from The Value Center. Worn with Hue knee-highs, vintage bag from clothing swap party, and boots from a swap with Claire of Mamushka Marie. Seriously, I love these boots and I get so many compliments when I wear them.

Unicorn Appreciation Club
I meant to write about this cute little party I went to a while back, but I needed to get all the photos in order and blah blah blah, this part is boring.
OK, so my friend Marianne was kind enough to invite me to a clothing swap hosted by her great pals Amelia and Arlene. I had never been to a swap so I wasn’t sure what to expect. In the end, I wish I would have taken more clothes because I think all but one of my items were snatched up by all the ladies in attendance.
It was just so fun and I had a great time talking with the gals. I was the only girl who didn’t know anyone else at the party and everyone was super nice and welcoming. If you know me, you know I’m super shy around new people, but the girls were all friendly and inviting. We talked about clothes, music, art, et cetera. I guess I just needed a good ol’ girls’ night because I am usually “one of the guys” talking about blow jobs, beer, and how girls are needy. Ha. Just kidding (no, I’m not). But it was all so cute and they call themselves the Unicorn Appreciation Club and now I’m an official member because I got my pin. Holla! I get giddy and teary-eyed over this shit because I’m so lame and hardly ever hang out with all-girl groups.

Well, the hostesses mentioned doing another swap in the near future and I hope I’m invited because I’m already packing up bags with clothes I’d like to share. Anyone out there ever thinking of hosting a clothing swap should definitely do it; if only to have a fun and raucous time with gal pals.

I’ve been on a monochromatic binge as seen in my outfit.
Wearing brick-colored dress from H&M, brown tights from Target, brown t-strap heels Aerosoles via Macy’s, and coat from Primark

Equus
Oh, just hanging out at Hansen Dam in Lake View Terrace. There’s a cute little equestrian trail where all the local ranchers ride their horses. And actually on this day, a man asked if I wanted to ride his horse. Is that a euphemism? Regardless, we made out. Haha. What can I say, I’m a sucker for a 10-gallon hat!

- Blue blouse, black boots: swap with Claire aka Mamushka Marie
- Navy blue mini skirt: thrifted
Almost Blue
Just a quick outfit post. I have, like, three drafts of posts I’ve been working on and none of them are done. For some reason, I start them then become distracted by something else I want to write about and save them to finish for later. I guess this is a good thing. Sometimes I can’t think of a thing to post.
So about this outfit. Boring, yet so comfortable. I was thinking two things when I cut off about two feet from the bottom of this dress. 1) It has to be the perfect length because although I will most likely be wearing it with tights during the fall/winter seasons, I will also be wearing it bare-legged during the warmer months so it can’t be too short or long. And 2) I don’t feel like sewing it. Usually, I don’t hem anything or like to use fabric glue, but when I saw Maria from LuluLetty wearing a dress that had not been hemmed, I felt it was OK and actually looked very cute against her black tights; not at all sloppy like I imagined it looked on me.
Anyhow, here I am at Memorial Garden at the San Fernando Mission. It’s on my route to work and that’s why you see me hanging out against this wall so much.
But seriously, since I have so much to babble on about, I’ll be trying to post everyday until the end of this week. Who knows though because I gotta get my turkey on tomorrow.

- Blue gingham dress: Thrifted, Arleta Thrift
- Navy cardigan: H&M
- Navy tights: Hue?
- White jazz shoes: TopShop
L is for Love
Last night I went to the El Perro Del Mar show at Hotel Cafe. Yes, I cried during “Change of Heart.” That song kills me. Oh yeah, Lykke Li showed up and tried to steal the show during that song by singing along with Sara, but Sara killed that shit. It was so all about El Perro. She played a lot from her new album, but it was still a good show.

And some shots of my outfit from Monday. All photos by Darren Blackburn.

- Black sheer pleated blouse, black boots: Thrifted, The Value Center
- Grey/blue textured denim leggings: H&M
These leggings are one of the first real-store items I’ve bought in a loooong time. An H&M recently opened up at my local mall so I checked it out and I was really disappointed with not only the prices, but the selections as well. I remember I used to shop at H&M more often and they had so many cute dresses that actually fit me, but now it’s way too trendy and I didn’t like it one bit. I’m still on the fence about these leggings. I feel like they’re too long and make me look fat(ter). Don’t get me wrong; it’s not like I wear clothes to look thinner, but I like to look like myself and these leggings add too much weight to my legs.
Reminder
Just a quick reminder that I’ll be doing a sales post over at my Livejournal tomorrow. I will put it up at 8am PST on the dot.
And I wanted to explain how it’s going to work out beforehand.
1. The first person to comment that they want a particular item (along with their e-mail address), will get that item unless they tell me otherwise.
2. As soon as it’s confirmed you want the item, I will delete it from the post or edit it as SOLD.
4. I am only accepting PayPal. I will invoice you as soon as we both confirm you want the item.
5. SHIPPPING: $5.00 for the flat rate priority envelopes. If you purchase more items, I will ship in a box (again, flat rate boxes). Obviously, international orders will be more, but there are flat rate prices as well.
If you have any other questions that haven’t been answered here, please feel free to leave a comment or e-mail me at corazonesrojosblog at gmail dot com.

My friend Nick has had this “Last Days” bench ad for a long time and I’ve been meaning to take some photos posing all hot and shit. What better time than after Happy Hour at the Chaparral! I look to’ up with the flo’ up, but I don give a fuck because I’m wearing my new favorite heels from where else, but the Value Center. They’s bomb. I almost didn’t get them because they cost $9. I know, cuh-razy! Thank you to Nick because he made me get these along with the purple flats from Monday’s post. He’s seriously stepping up his game since that last clog fiasco.
Wearing DIY torn jeans, black H&M blouse dress, and black sparkled H&M scarf. I actually can’t believe I’m wearing two H&M pieces. This never happens. I mean, I don’t even remember the last time I even went into an H&M. These items are from at least two years ago.

Outfit worn yesterday. Yes, it was 90 degrees out and I wore an all-black outfit. Who does that? Usually not me, but I’ve only been buying dark clothes recently.
I sang LL Cool J and Mana during Karaoke. Who goes out to two bars on a Tuesday? Usually not me, but I gave into peer pressure. I’ve only been drinking margaritas recently.
100 percent thrifted from The Value Center:
- black lace blouse (originally it was more of a shirt dress, but it didn’t look right on this old broad, so I just had to cut it shorter)
- black cotton jumpsuit (shortened, hemmed, and altered by me!)
- black velvet heels
