It’s so amazing how my hair and face have changed over the years.
Can we talk about packing for a second? I’ll be in Vegas for three days and two nights. I’m taking four pairs of shoes and about six different outfits. This is so not me. I’m a minimalist at heart. What is happening to me?
OK, bye!
P.S. I promise to pack my camera and take photos.
Oh, Lord

Saturday morning brunch at King’s Road Cafe

Who are these girls? Why haven’t I run into them at my local laundromat? source

Nothing compares to you, my dear. xtina

What I’ve been dressing like at work. IDGAF. (can’t remember where I got this photo)

Trying to see how far I can lift my leg; pretty high, actually.

I wore all black during my weekend in Vegas.

Really want this fringed white dress.

Eyes. The day I ate at Wurstkuche.

Why yes, this is a Murder City Devils-inspired tattoo?

The best Anglophile you’ll ever meet; and the sexiest

Korean Girl. White Guy. Mexican Gal.

My new fake Chanel bag. I only got it because I like the color and size - not because it’s fake Chanel.
Perspective
Sometimes I look back at old OOTD photos and cringe and just want to delete them, but in the end I realize that I actually liked the outfit at the time and there’s no reason in denying it because…that was me then.
Nice JLo reference, doofus.

First ever wardrobe_remix post. Still love this outfit.

First photo ever posted on this blog.

My most favorite pose ever.

God, I wish I still had this dress.

I don’t know how I came up with this color combo, but it’s pretty amazing.

My proudest DIY moments.
In conclusion, WEAR WHATEVER THE FUCK YOU WANT AND DON’T LOOK BACK COS YOU PROBABLY LOOKED CA-UTE AND IT DOESN’T MATTER NOW IF YOU THINK YOU LOOKED LIKE CRAP; TODAY IS A NEW DAY AND A NEW OPPORTUNITY TO CREATE AN AMAZING OUTFIT.
WYWH
This past weekend not only did I see the Concretes twice (Troubadour in LA and at the Casbah in San Diego), but I got to meet my (and yours too, probably) Internet idol, Miss Jessica aka tangledupinlace.
I didn’t even know she would be at the Casbah until she texted me a few hours before. I literally gasped. I was seriously so nervous thinking if she would like me because I know I’m really a nerd at heart. Plus, I sometimes feel my (and maybe most peoples’) online persona is a bit heightened or caricaturized. I never know how people will react to my insane “jokes” and quirks. Luckily, Jessica and I hit it off right away. She’s just as hilarious, gorgeous, and fun-filled as she is on her blog and Tumblr.
We danced to the music and afterward we hung out and laughed at the most stupid scenarios. It was as if she was a missing member in my group of friends; she fit in so well and we had a ball. I was sad I wasn’t able to spend more time with her, but we will meet up soon for sure. Our love cannot withstand this distance.
Jessica also wrote a heartwarming re-cap of our rendezvous here. Read it. It made me tear up a bit.
Proof of our love…

Meeting Jessica (and other IRL and online friends) reminds me of this quote I read a few years back. I don’t know who the author is, but it really spoke to me in a special way:
“Meeting a new girl and hitting it off is almost as thrilling as falling in love. In some ways it’s even more rewarding because romantic passion and honey-devotion can be back-breaking, feverish work, whereas female kinship is a constant, consistent, uplifting experience you can always count on.”
P.S. Thanks to Nic for taking the photos!
Minimal
I like wearing short dresses and short tops with short shorts underneath.

Outfit in which I tried to go to Smiths Night at The Echoplex, but there was no parking and the line was entirely too long.

I don’t care that you can see the torn hem. I wanted to wear this dress and goddamit, I wore it!
dress: thrifted, black textured tights: Hue, booties: Deena & Ozzy

outfit in which i had so much fun. one of the most fun nights of my life.

top: thrifted, navy tights: Hue, bike shorts: swap meet, boots: f21
Sometimes I just want minimalist solid-colored items in my closet.

In major need of a dancing night…

I didn’t know how sheer this shirt was until people kept telling me they could see my brarrrr. I truly understood when I saw these photos. Wow! Oh well. It’s a cool top though because only the front is sheer and the back is all black cotton. But, it’s definitely not something I would wear in the daytime. This is strictly reserved for the nightlife. And let me say, when you wear a top this see-through, you get a lot of attention. Boing!

The Age of Aquarius
So many darn birthdays in January.
We went out to Verdugo Bar for Nic J. Mor’s birthday. Goth theme of course.

I wasn’t going to post this photo, but it cracks me up so much.

Not such a great photo, but it’s the best out of the lot.
- Black dress, black bag, ring: thrifted
- Black heels: Clarks
- Black tights: Target
This dress is adorable. I love the instant accessory with the attached brooch. I had to shorten it though because it was sister wife length.

Brunch bunch! Another trip to Mo’s and another photo op. Baby thighs!!! Super-duper short dress and me with my leg up looking all cute. Mary Jane Docs, y’all!

Tina and Gabby, together forever.
Ice Cream and Cake
Guyssss, I think I’m a do it. Think I’m gonna get the “Rachel” haircut. I’m always behind on trends. Whatev, 16 years late!
Look what I wore this past Saturday to hang at The Falls in Downtown.

My brother told me I didn’t match. I told him to shut the fuck up.

What’s up with my right hand? Looks so static.

I’m from the White Lightning school of blogging.

Black matte nails. Again, late on trends. Wasn’t going to shell out monies for the real thang so I bought a cheapy clear matte polish. Yeahhh boyyy.
Oh, and outfit deets…
- Creme/blue sequined tunic(dress?): H&M - on sale for $5!!!
- Black blazer: Thrifted
- Black tights: Target
- Black suede booties: Deena & Ozzy.
And because I was just crying and re-watching Mask:
These things are good: ice cream and cake, a ride on a Harley, seeing monkeys in the trees, the rain on my tongue, and the sun shining on my face. These things are a drag: dust in my hair, holes in my shoes, no money in my pocket, and the sun shining on my face.
Extravaganza
This post really has no purpose, but I have so many photos and want to share them.
Last Sunday the gang headed to Mo’s for some delicious brunch.

Whenever we head to Mo’s, we always end up taking photos outside because, well…we’re crazy?

Cute mommy, cute baby

We look so industrial goth here

Then we went to Nic’s and kept on drinking (Photo by Daniel T.)

Onto the Witches Brew for more drinking (Photo by Daniel T.)
And because I know I will get shit from Nic J. Mor if I don’t mention this…yes, it was my birthday. I feel OK saying this now that it’s over. Thank you to all my friends and family. I seriously don’t know what I would do without them, y’all! They are all so wonderfully generous and make me laugh non-stop.

My family obliged me with a trip to Shakey’s. Mmm. Here with my niece Emily and nephew Diego at Menchie’s for dessert.
The Opposite of Hallelujah
This past Saturday, I headed to Skybar at the Mondrian to check out none other than Mr. Jens Lekman for a free show. He played a truly wonderful set complete with all my faves (except for A Postcard to Nina. How dare he?!).

One Life Stand
At times, my outfits tend to blend together and pieces show up more than once during the span of a week. The following photos are from the last 14 days or so, but I don’t remember when I wore what or where I wore it to or even why I was wearing so much black as soon as the weather turned slightly chilly. I do, however, know that a lot of these items are new to the blog or have just never been photographed.

Black and grey waterfall front cardigan: Faith21/everything else remixed

New sweater and new shirt in which I think looks more like a bank uniform button-up/everything else remixed

New grey lace-up boots: Forever 21/everything else you’ve seen before

I like my hair this way.

Before it got below 70 degrees. I like the boots with the bright yellow dress!

G for Gabby. Duh.

Nic called me Ina Garten when I wore this over-sized blouse. Whatevs, I’m cool! Again, obsessively wearing these darn boots. They go with everything!

Boots: courtesy of Evans. I need to take proper photos of these boots because they are pretty awesome and really do need a post and outfit completely centered around them alone.
At the moment, I’m compiling my list of faves for 2010; you know, favorite outfits, PLUS fave songs and albums ‘cause ya know all I care about most of the time is listening to music and looking ca-ute!
Thanks for reading, loves!
Maybe So, Maybe No
A couple weeks ago I went to the Mayer Hawthorne show at the Fonda and let me proclaim that this was one of - if not THEE - best shows I’ve ever attended. Non-stop crooning from Mr. Hawthorne and non-stop dancing from me and Luz. It really was so much fun. Plus, we witnessed the amazingness otherwise known as Childish Gambino! Mmhmm, that’s right!
Oh yay, outfit photos!

This is my NYE dress from last year. I think Mayer Hawthorne is deemed worthy enough for such a fancy schmancy dress.

Nice hole in your leggings, you idiot.

dress, bag - thrifted/shoes - Clarks/tights - Target/attitude - innate

Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves
One hundred percent thrifted! Yes, I love these types of outfits!

This day I was trying out a different style with my bangs. I had previously decided to grow them out and they were at this awkward stage hovering over my eyes. My solution had been to sweep them to the side, but that was getting boring, so I parted them in the middle this time. I think it sorta went with my 70s-era outfit. Maybe. Kinda. Not really? Either way, the side-sweep and the middle-part are now a thing of the past. In an angry fit, I trimmed my fringe and now they’re back to normal. I think I may grow them out at the beginning of 2011. Maybe.

And some thoughts..
I read this today on Amelia’s blog and it truly resonated with me. Sometimes I think my looks aren’t consistent enough and that I have no true definitive style because I go back and forth through eras. I guess I just like a little bit of everything and maybe that’s my style - JUMBLY. Yeah, a big ol’ jumble.
“I appreciate people with coherent looks, but I cannot plan myself that intensely, and am attracted to such eclectic garments. Sometimes I wanna be a 70’s rocky roller. Sometimes I want to be a 60’s gogo dancer. Sometimes, like right now, I wanna be a local teen and hang out in my underwear and a No Doubt tshirt and cook dinner and listen to pop records.”
Yeah, Amelia knows wassup.
Bloggers of the World Unite and Take Over
So guess who I hung out with this weekend?

Yup, that’s Jaya (HeebieJeebieJaya), Sakari (TheFemaleTrouble), and Kaya (Giant Screamer)! Yay!

Oh, you know, just hanging out on the streets of Hollywood.

Dang, we look tough. It’s like we’re in a gang.

Why can’t I have a more clever pose/photo face?

Smiles all around!
I guess I didn’t get the wear-neutral-and-black-clothes memo. Oops. But on the real, I had fun with these lovely gals. It’s like the Internet came to life.
P.S. Yes, I’m wearing another shirt-dress (holla, Melina!). Whole outfit is thrifted. What!
Wish You Were Here
More obscure titles that come from whatever is currently playing on my iTunes.
I went a little photo crazy with this outfit. I surrriously love this dress so much. Why did it take me this long to take photos?

No altering or hemming needed on this dress. It’s perfect as is.

Hot damn, look at that collar!

The print, the color!

Those buttons! Gahhhhhhhh.
